鉴赏：
这是一尊唐代观世音菩萨石碑像，下方台座正面碑记中记载有造像的时间及造像供养人和供养目的，从碑记中我们能读到这是一位“上骑都尉”，相当于五品官阶的佛弟子为已亡父母所造。观音菩萨发髻高束，面容圆润、五官秀美、神态安详。长长的披帛绕肩缠臂自然垂下，在二侧似随风飘动。左手上举持杨枝，右手自然下垂持净瓶，赤足安住在法座平台之上。平台二侧各有一尊呈童子形象，虔诚可爱的跪姿供养人像。表面遗留有当年的彩绘痕迹，虽然石碑上部略有缺损，但整尊造像生动优美，可谓唐代石雕中的精品之作

[1] See Curatorial Remark 1 in the object record. Peter J. Bahr (died circa 1928) and Abel William Bahr (1877-1959) were brothers born in Shanghai. Peter remained in Shanghai. Abel left Shanghai in 1910, after which he lived, at various points in time, in London, Montreal, and Ridgefield, Connecticut. He established a gallery in New York City in 1920.
