此像是一尊距今有近一千五百年历史的东魏石雕,据资料记载此像是1914年在纽约从巴黎文物商人手中购入。佛陀发髻高隆,面部圆润饱满,五官端庄。双目微闭俯视,神态安详、法相庄严。整个面部的雕刻精致而圆润,将佛相之好一一完美而准确的表达出来。佛像的头光部分雕刻的华丽精致,由中心的浮雕莲花瓣及阴文线刻放射状线条等共有三圈组成。
佛陀右手施无畏印,左手施与愿印,全跏趺座安住在法座之上。裙衫繁复、折摺自然垂下,在法座前方层层叠叠、优美流畅。身后为火焰纹围绕形成的尖顶舟形背光,大气舒展、造像优美,从残留的彩绘中可见当时的精美。
