位于中国河北省境内的响堂山石窟佛像雕刻精美,构思巧妙,具有鲜明的时代特点。它一反北魏中晚“深目高鼻、瘦骨清风”的人物造型模式,开拓出一种造型健壮、敦实厚重的风范;是由东魏北齐,向唐朝承上启下过渡的一种艺术风格,也推动中国的佛教文化更加繁荣昌盛。但在大约一个世纪以前,响堂山石窟开始遭受到大规模的盗窃和破坏,大量佛像被盗往海外。

此尊佛像最初位于河北省邯郸市的南响堂山石窟. 其头部螺发低平,面部肉感饱满,二侧大耳垂肩。双眉细弯,眼部细长,目光俯视,嘴部上翘,微笑慈祥。整个面部的雕刻精致而圆润,将佛相之好一一表达出来,完美而准确。从正面看佛像神情安详宁静,令人对佛教的神圣庄严肃然起敬。
